Family Holiday to Crete

We went to Crete  for a family holiday and decided to return back to a hotel we first visited 2 years ago, the Amirandes grecotel

The hotel itself is only 15 mins drive from Heraklion airport which is great and makes for an easy transfer. When you walk in your instantly taken a back by the beauty of the hotels design, there’s so much blue, with the sea and other water features.

It has a real luxury feel and a great level of customer service. It is so child friendly without being in your face. Kids eat free all day at all the restaurants and even for room service. Every lunch time they have ‘tasty corner’ with a special buffet just for kids. This is great for children to grab a snack or have lunch it is perfect for younger children so they can have lunch and then nap while you eat lunch later. We took Blythe to tasty corner a few times but she mainly ate lunch with us.

Lots of the rooms have private pools which is also really handy with small children it means kids can have a nap in the room while you can continue to enjoy the sun (or catch up on love island) the main pool is stunning and there’s also a baby pool. The kids club is fantastic and although Blythe is to young to be left without us ( you have to be 4, this is pretty common for most hotels) they have loads to do inside and out and various activities each day that families can join in with. One day they had ponies and a little riding session set up for the children which Blythe loved. The entertainment staff are so amazing and welcoming and take such pride in their job. Blythe loved them.

In the evenings there is a family disco for half an hour in a small amphitheatre again this is very subtle and if you don’t have kids you wouldn’t notice it was going on but the children love it and it was something Blythe looked forward to every day. There’s also usually another activity or entertainment after the disco like star gazing, or a performance.

There are tennis courts and a football pitch with 5 aside football games for kids and grown ups. You can play volleyball, do yoga or other fitness classes as well as aqua aerobics. There’s loads going on if your an active person but it’s not thrust in your face if you prefer to sit on a sun lounger all day.

The beach is lovely and private and your so close to everything should you want to head to the pool back to your room or for some lunch. There are many restaurants in the resort. My favourite is timage1he floating deck restaurant which you must book in advance but is such a lovely experience with amazing food, I also love the traditional greek taverna.

I would really recommend The Amirandes hotel to anyone but especially families.

We had an amazing holiday and will definitely be back again soon.
