My hair has grown crazy amounts over the past year and is the longest it has ever been. I’ve been getting a lot of comments about what products I use and how I’ve managed to get it this long so I thought I’d share some of my top tips.
Don’t apply heat unless it’s a must!
So this isn’t to say don’t ever use straighteners or curlers, I’m just saying unless you really need to try to avoid DAILY use of these on your hair. They can be really damaging after time so the less frequently you use them the better. I only ever straighten, dry or curl my hair if I’m going out or doing something and ALWAYS apply a heat defence beforehand, my favourite is Toni and Guy heat defence. Day to day I let it dry naturally and wear it up, this has really improved the condition of my hair and made it grow long and healthy.
Avoid daily washing!
I never wash my hair everyday, not only do I not have enough time but it can be damaging to your hair. Washing your hair too frequently can really dry it out and washes away the natural oils your hair has. I wash mine 2/3 times a week. I use Herbal Essences and Toni and Guy shampoo and conditioner, I love both!
A healthy lifetsyle makes a massive difference to your hair growth. I try and drink lots of water daily along with a healthy balanced diet. You don’t really think about your diet when it comes to hair growth but foods like Salmon which is filled with protein, Omega 3 essential fatty acids will help keep your scalp supple and hydrated. Almonds are supposed to be best for hair loss and promoting hair growth too! There are loads more super foods for the hair but those are just a couple to give you an idea.
Once a week I apply a condiontioning mask to my hair and leave it for a few hours/sometimes overnight. I use a Toni and Guy mask and plait my hair while it’s in to keep it out of my face. This makes my hair feel amazing and gives it the deep condition it needs. I reccomend this if like mine your hair can be quite dry and damaged.
