I’ve been asked by quite a few people what me and Otis get up to day to day so I thought I’d share a typical day in the life of us for those of you who are interested. It’s pretty basic and not very exciting, somedays we don’t get out of our pj’s, but we have lots of fun everyday and I love being a stay at home mum. Otis makes me laugh everyday and I love watching him grow into the most gorgeous little thing.
8.00am Otis wakes up and comes into our bed for a bottle. He cuddles/headbutts us for half an hour and then begs at the bathroom door to go in to brush his teeth with Korey. This is his favourite thing to do at the moment!
8.30/45am We go downstairs for a large coffee (for me) and breakfast. He usually eats dry cereal (weird I know) or toast, or both!
11am After a morning of playing and trashing the living room Otis has his nap of the day! It can be anything between 45mins to 2hrs and I always hope for the longer version. I usually get as many jobs done as I can and as quietly as possible as he’s such a light napper. I oftern just sit with a cup of tea in silence and enjoy the peace!
1pm If I’m lucky and he’s had a good sleep we have lunch which is whatever I can find! He loves avacado, ham sandwiches and apples best so I try to always be stocked up.
After lunch we sometimes go to the swings and for a walk (weather dependant), meet friends at soft play or just play around the house! He’s at the age now where he loves running riot so I try to get out even if it’s just for half an hour. Otis LOVES TV but I try not to keep it on too much if we’re just in the house as he becomes a bit transfixed.
5pm Otis eats earlier than us so I usually just cook for him first. He’s started to only like food he can feed himself so his meals are quite bland nowadays. He loves egg pasta which is so easy and fairly mess free. He has yogurt and fruit for pudding most days and sometimes some left over christmas chocolate!
6pm Bath time! Otis has a bath every night as just part of a routine. Now he’s a bit older by 6 he’s just an absolute mess so I love nothing more than getting him in the bath!
6.30/7pm Otis goes to bed. He really loves listening to stories now and loves turning the pages and interacting. He always has a bottle to go to sleep and is a diamond at going down! He’s realy learnt how to self soothe and get himself back to sleep if he wakes up. I think his dummy helps a lot with this!
It can be quite lonely and boring day to day when you’re alone at home with your babies. Try and look for local clubs in your area or arrange something each week with friends for a change of scenory for you and your little one, it will do you the world of good.
Lots of love Hattie xxx
