Welcome home Joe!

It has been a long 5 weeks without Joe whilst he has been away with England rugby touring Australia. They had a brilliant tour historically winning all of their matches. I am so proud of Joe, he has finally returned home albeit a little battered and bruised. Thank god for FaceTime! It has been really tough being apart and Blythe and I have both missed him so much. It is really hard for her to understand exactly where Daddy has been and she asked for him every day “where Daddy gone?” which broke my heart. She was so happy to see him when he walked through the door which was just lovely to see and they have been inseparable ever since. Joe can’t believe how much she has grown up since he has been gone. She is a real chatterbox  (just like her mummy) and has a brilliant vocabulary for someone so small.

We relocated from London to Leamington Spa the day Joe left, so I have been working hard to get the house ready for Joe’s return. This is no easy task with a toddler clinging to your ankles. Joe was so pleased and amazed at how much I have managed to do. Luckily my mum and step dad helped with the initial move and they worked really hard to unpack boxes, build furniture and put up shelves and pictures.

Joe was away for Fathers day so we wanted to give him an extra special welcome. We ordered a cake from ‘Sweet AS’ in Leamington which was delicious and I got a t-shirt for Blythe saying ‘Team Launchbury’ from Notonthehighstreet.com we made chocolate dipped strawberries too. (which were secretly for me) In our new house Joe has his own cinema room/mancave so I got him a small fridge to have drinks and snacks and filled it with his favourites. I also bought a sign from Notonthehighstreet.com saying ‘Joe’s Man cave’, which he loved. You should check them out if you haven’t already, they do great personalised presents.

We are so so happy to have him home and be altogether in our new home! I don’t think I could have lasted much longer without him. I’m not sure how people cope when their partners work away for longer periods of time.

Does your partner work away? I would love to hear from you!

Love M xx

  1. Hi Mallory. I follow you and your sisters blog and Instagram account and agree with all your advice and views on the experiences of motherhood!
I have a little boy, one year old this month and my partner, his daddy, is in the RAF. As we don’t live on base with him we do spend the weeks apart but the weekends together. It’s hard but we always have the weekends to look forward to. However in three weeks time he will be deployed to the Falklands for four months (!!) my aim is to keep myself busy – which I’m sure won’t be hard but I will miss him terribly. Xx
